DHAKA: Commuters experienced traffic congestion in the city on Wednesday, the second day of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)-called nationwide blockade for indefinite period.
Vehicular movement was seen halted for sometimes on several areas, including Bijoy Sarani, Karwan Bazar, Gulistan and Shahbagh and Paltan intersections.
Along with police, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Border Guard Bangladesh were seen patrolling the city streets on the day to avert any untoward situation.
The number of commuters comparatively increased in city on the second day. They were seen busy to reach their respective destinations.
Earlier on January 5, BNP chairperson Khalada Zia called the blockade as a protest of police restriction on their rallies to mark ‘Democracy Killing Day’.
People were seen panic-stricken on the first day of the blockade though they come out into the streets on the second day to meet their daily needs keeping the fear of violence aside.
The city was gradually getting back to its old face of traffic congestion as the commuters are using public transport.
