JOYPURHAT: The railway communication of Joypurhat with Dhaka and Rajshahi has been restored after nearly a four-hour halt following the removal of several fishplates from the railway tracks early Thursday.
The rail service resumed around 10:15am, said Nurul Islam, main master of Joypurhat rail station, told banglanews.
The communication came to a halt after miscreants removed the fishplates of 35-feet rail line in Uri Bridge area around 5:50am.
Following the incident, the Rajshahi-bound Barendra Express, coming from Parbatipur, got stuck at Joypurhat station. Later, it left the station after the rail tracks had been repaired.
Joypurhat Police Super Biman Chandra Karmaker told banglanews that none was detained in this connection.
Earlier Wednesday night, police held two activists of Chhatra Shibir with locally made weapons while trying to sabotage on rail tracks in Puranpoil area of Joupurhat Sadar.
