DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday said the constitution of Bangladesh is the best one in the world.

She made this comment while addressing the 19th Biennial Conference of Bangladesh Economic Association at Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) auditorium in the city Thursday morning.

The premier said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman gave the nation this constitution as a gift considering the people’s demands.

This constitution has emphasized the basic human rights and her incumbent government is working to fulfill the rights, she added.

Citing different development projects taken by the government, Hasina said Bangabandhu dreamt of building a society free of hunger, poverty, exploitation, deprivation, discrimination and communalism.

The Father of the Nation took all measures to materialize his dreams and her incumbent government has been working to fulfill the dreams, she added.

The premier went on saying that medical service will have to be ensured along with food security. For this reason, her government is providing medical service door-to-door.

Her government has also constructed houses free of cost for the poor, and lent money with 1 percent interest to people who have land but no money to build home, she added.

Country’s poverty rate has come down to 24 percent now, Hasina informed the audience.
