MOULVIBAZAR: Rail communications of Sylhet with Dhaka and Chittagong have been restored Thursday night following a 19-hour halt.
Derailment of five compartments along with the engine of an Udayan Express train made the halt as miscreants pulled off fishplates there earlier.
Jahangir Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Kulaura GRP Thana, told banglanews that the rail services were restored around 10:05pm after a salvage train cleared the line.
Earlier, according to him, the Sylhet-bound Udayan Express, which came from Chittagong, veered off the track at Kulaura’s Tilagaon Rail Station area around 2:45am.
The accident, however, snapped rail communications of Dhaka-Chittagong and Chittagong-Sylhet routes apart from injuring at least 50 persons.
