MANIKGANJ: Four Ijtema devotees were killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Aricha highway in Joypura bus stand area under Dhamrai upazila of Dhaka district Friday morning.

The deceased were identified as Roich Uddin, 27, son of late Mosarrof Hossain, Hajji Nazim Uddin, 40, son of late Motaleb Hossain and Nasir Uddin, 42, son late Saheb Ali of Hushtala area of  Jessore city and Rezwan, 27, the car driver, hailed from Sarapole Rupdia village of Jessore Sadar upazila.

Dhamrai Thana Sub-Inspector (SI) Sekendar Ali told banglanews that the accident took place around 9:00am when a Manikganj-bound bus collided head-on with a Biswa Ijtema-bound private car in the area, leaving three riders of the car dead on the spot and its diver injured critically.

Injured driver was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Bodies of them who died on the spot have been kept at morgue of Gonoshasthaya Hospital in Savar.

Neither arrest of anyone nor the bus seizure was reported in this connection.
