COMILLA: Train service on Dhaka-Chittagong and Dhaka-Sylhet routes resumed nearly four hours after a train derailed near to Nangolkot rail station due to sabotage on Saturday, the fifth day of the nationwide blockade called by BNP.
The rail communications was restored around 10:40am after relief train cleared the rail tracks.
Earlier, Criminals cut off rail tracks, causing derailment of a compartment and an engine of a Chittagong-bound train from Dhaka at Nangalkot Station of the district around 6:30am.
Rail communication of Chittagong with Dhaka and Sylhet came to a halt following the derailment.
Comilla Railway assistant engineer Mostafizur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
The engineer, however, hoped that rail movement is likely to become normal by the noon saying that a relief train from Laksham rushed to the spot and has already begun rescue works.
A cargo train remained stranded at Comilla Railway Station due to the derailment.
