DHAKA: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Sajeeb Wazed Joy become member Pirganj upazila unit Awami League (AL) clearing the way to compete from this constituency in the parliamentary election.

Joy’s mother PM Sheikh Hasina, also president of Awami League, competes from the Pirganj constituency in the national elections.

Now the people of the upazila want to see Joy as a candidate, said newly approved upazila AL committee general secretary Tazimul Islam Shamim.

Rangpur district committee approved a 67-member committee for Pirganj upazila AL on Sunday where Joy has been made No. 1 member.

Moreover, Motaharul Haque Bablu was made president and Tazimul Islam Shamim as general secretary of the committee.

Earlier on 2001, Joy became the member of Rangpur district AL.

Tazimul said the PM’s adviser has been working for the development of the upazila and we hoped that he will also take the leadership of upazila AL.

The Prime Minister was elected lawmaker from this constituency in 10th parliamentary election. Later, the premier left the seat and Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury elected unopposed.
