DHAKA: Balloted and non-balloted hajj pilgrims, henceforth, can register their names by paying one-third of the total cost for performing hajj.
The decision was adopted after approving the proposal of re-fixing the registration fee of hajj pilgrims in a cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday.
After the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan made the disclosure while briefing journalists.
He said, “All the balloted hajj pilgrims under package-1 and package-2 can register their names by paying Tk 51,690 within February 5.”
“Rest of the money has to be paid within June 10,” the journalists were told.
Meanwhile, the non-balloted hajj pilgrims can register their names by paying Tk 483,331.50 by February 5 and rest of the money has to be paid within June 10.
All the balloted hajj pilgrims were requested to register their names by paying Tk 151,690 and non-balloted hajj pilgrims Tk 148,331 by February 5. Rest of the money has to be paid by June 10.
This year, the balloted hajj pilgrims under package-1 and package-2 have to pay Tk 354,745 and Tk 296,206 respectively. The hajj pilgrims also have to take Tk 10,500 (SAR 500) for Qurbani or sacrifice of animals.
Some 101,758 hajj pilgrims from Bangladesh can perform hajj in 2015.
