SUNAMGANJ: Leaders and activists of BNP-led 20-party alliance allegedly vandalized 20 human haulers, locally named leguna, in Old Bus Stand area of Sunamganj town on Wednesday.

Sources told banglanews that the vandalism took place on Sunamganj-Sylhet highway around 11:15am.

The BNP-alliance men vandalized the vehicles after being prohibited by the law-enforcers from attending a rally, sources added.

The rally, however, was scheduled to be held at Madanpur, 12km away from Sunamganj town.

Locals said, police, from the early morning, took position there and put blockade on the highway to stop the rally-going people.

Following the matter, 20-party alliance men brought out a procession and attacked on the human haulers from the procession.

On the other hand, district Superintendent of Police (SP) Harun-ur-Rashid, denying the allegation, said that the 20-party men vandalized the vehicles without any provocation.
