FROM PARLIAMENT: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday said the government is responsible to protect life and property of the country’s people.

“The government has deployed police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Ansar force to stop sabotage in the country as government is responsible to protect people’s life and property,” she said.

The primer, also ruling Awami League president, made the assertion while addressing the parliament.

In response to a query on a star mark from Chittagong-16 MP Mostafizur Rahman Chowdhury, she said that the BNP-Jamaat alliance is carrying out the subversive activities after being feared by her government’s development projects.

Sheikh Hasina told the House that BNP and its alliance are involved in subversive activities like petrol bomb attacks and torching bus by pouring gun power as they are denied by people of the country, the parliament leader added.

She also said the recent activities of BNP and its alliance have crossed the barbaric mass killing during Bangladesh’s Liberation War in 1971.

The premier asked all to hand over the miscreants to police and help the law enforcers giving information about sabotage.

In response to another star mark question of MP Mir Mostaque Ahmed, the premier said BNP-Jamaat alliance conducted barbaric killing in 2013.

At least 16 people were killed and 55 injured in Satkhira district at that time, the House was told.
