Arson attack kills one in Sylhet

SYLHET: A man was killed and three others injured as miscreants hurled petrol bombs at a running truck that led to a road accident at Bonikona under South Surma late on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Shahjahan Mia, 30, son of Aktar Mian of Ahmedpur village of the upazila.

Witnesses said miscreants hurled petrol bombs at a Sylhet-bound truck (Dhaka Ta-16-4239). The arson attack led its driver to lost control and ran over an auto-rickshaw, killing the auto driver on the spot and injuring two others.

Helper of the truck was rushed to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital with burn-injuries.

South Surma Thana Officer-In-Charge (OC) Khairul Fazal confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Police recovered the dead body from the spot, said the OC.
