DHAKA: BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman’s Malaysia visit is cancelled due to visa issuing complexity.
He was scheduled to go to Malaysia from London to see his younger brother Arafat Rahman Koko who passed away Saturday.
A competent source of BNP said Tarique Rahman would not be able to make his visit to Malaysia as the visa will remain close till Sunday.
Meanwhile, the body of Koko will be brought in the country on Monday.
On the other hand, Tarique along with other BNP leaders of London is likely to be present in the gayebana janaza of Koko to be offered on Sunday in London.
BNP International Affairs Secretary Mahidur Rahman, Tarique Rahman's Special Advisor Barrister MA Salam and Kaiser M Ahmed, general secretary of the UK chapter of BNP confirmed the matter to banglanews around 2:00pm (London time) on Saturday.
Kaiser M Ahmed said that the BNP leaders of several towns of UK are asked to join the gayebana janaja on Sunday at Altab Ali Park in London.
However, the senior leaders of BNP rushed to the residence of Tarique at Kingston in UK to meet and console him in his great loss.
Tarique became shocked after he was informed about the death.
He sought ‘Dua’ from all walk of people for Koko.
Tarique also talked several times to his mother Khaleda Zia over phone in this regard to console her.
