CHITTAGONG: An on-duty police officer was killed and four other policemen were injured in a road accident in Foujdarhat area under Sitakunda upazila early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Kabir Hossain, 36, a police sergeant and In-Charge of Foujdarhat Police Outpost.

Police sources said that a rashly driven covered van rammed into a police van while it was patrolling on the highway around 4:30am, leaving Kabir Hossain dead on the spot and four other law enforcers injured.

The injured policemen were whisked off to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

Chittagong Additional Police Superintendent Shahidullah confirmed the matter to banglanews.
