DHAKA: The High Court (HC) banned use of expired rings in heart surgery issuing a rule to government to explain why the use of such rings should not be declared illegal.

An HC bench comprising Justice kazi Reza Ul Haque and Justice Abu Taher M Saifur Rahman passed the suo-moto order Thursday.

Health Secretary, director general of Health Directorate, IGP, directors of National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases and other hospitals were made respondents to the rule and have been asked to submit reports within a month after forming a committee.
