DHAKA: Customs officials detained a civil aviation official with 4.2 kilograms at Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday.

The detainee is Hafizur Rahman, boarding bridge operator of Civil Aviation Authority.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Farid Al Mamun, assistant commissioner of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate, said customs officials were kept alert following a information that a consignment of gold are being smuggled by a flight of Thai Airways.

After the flight landed at the airport, the officials searched Hafizur on suspicion and recovered the gold bars from his possession.

A case was filed in this connection, he added.
