DHAKA: The Election Commission (EC) on Saturday published the updated final voter list with some 47-lakh additional voters.

The upazila level voter lists have already been published in the offices of upazila polls officers.

Election Commission (EC) Secretary Sirajul Islam told banglanews that the lists were published as they made an announcement regarding the matter.

However, the voter lists of all upazilas are yet to be integrated, he added.

Sirajul Islam further said the accurate number of the total voters will be unveiled on February 1.

EC updated the voter list in three phases across the country that started on May 15 of 2014 and concluded on November 15.

Later, the EC published the draft of the updated voter list and received objections over the anomalies till January 17.

By the latest count, total number of voters stood at 9.20 crore before publishing the updated voter list.

Of them 50.38 percent are men while the rest are women, EC sources said.
