DHAKA: Three persons were killed in separate gunfights with law enforcers in Rajshahi, Jessore and Comilla early Friday.
One of the deceased was identified as Mohammad Shahabuddin, Chhatra Shibir’s information and technology affairs secretary of Rajshahi University unit.
In Rajshahi, a leader of Rajshahi University unit Chhatra Shibir was killed in a clash with police in Shamsadpur area early Friday.
Confirming the matter to banglanews, Motihar Thana Officer-in-Charge Alamgir Hossain said that some Shibir cadres attacked members of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) while they were patrolling in Katakhali Shamsadpur area of the upazila around 1:00am.
For self defense, police also opened fire at Shibir cadres that left Mohammad Shahabuddin dead, the OC added.
Two more Shibir leaders sustained bullet injuries and a policeman also injured during the clash.
The injured were rushed to the Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital.
Banglanews Comilla Correspondent reports: A youth, aged at 30, was killed in a gunfight with police in Chaudagram upazila early hours of the day.
The bullet-hit body was taken to Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue around 8:00am.
Hospital’s nurse association general secretary Dulal Chandra Sutradhar told banglanews that Chauddagram Thana Sub-Inspector Ibrahim brought the body with Gunshot wounds to the head.
On the other hand in Jessore, a suspected criminal was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police in Picnic Corner area of Ramnagar under Sadar upazila of the district early Friday.
Three policemen also sustained injuries during the gun battle held around 3:00am on Jessore-Khulna highway.
Jessore police superintendent Anisur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
