FENI: A covered van driver received burn injury as miscreants attacked petrol bomb in Kazir Dighi area of the town on Dhaka-Chittagong highway on Sunday.

The injured--Mohammad Parvez, 30, son of Fakir Ahammed, resident of Char Krishnochar under Sonagzi upazila of the district--is undergoing treatment at Feni Modern Sadar Hospital.

Miscreants, according to the victim, attacked his vehicle around 8:00am on way to Dhaka from Chittagong.

He added: “They, the attackers, first hurled a couple of cocktails which forced me to stop the covered van.” “The miscreants, then, left the scene after throwing petrol bombs at the vehicle,” he said.

Parvez said, “I have luckily saved my life by jumping off to a roadside canal.”

Feni Highway Police Camp In-Charge Saleh Ahmed Pathan said, on information, police recovered the covered van driver and doused the fire of the vehicle.

He also said the victim also sustained splinter injuries on different parts of his body, including face and legs.

However, we are looking into the matter, he added.
