DHAKA: A total of 227 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel have been deployed across the country on Tuesday - the last day of the 72-hour hartal sponsored by BNP-led 20-party alliance.
The BGB members have been patrolling in the city and elsewhere of the country since the dawn to prevent sabotages and keep the law and order situations normal during hartal hours.
BGB Headquarters’ public relations officer Mohammad Mohsin Reza confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Mohsin said that some six platoons of BGB personnel have been deployed in the city since the dawn and they will remain posted till the evening.
Besides, 221 platoons BGB-men have been deployed outside the city.
Of which, 116 platoons will escort the moving vehicles on the highways and 105 platoons will provide security at different places to thwart subversive activities and keep the law and order situations under control.
They have been deployed at 6:00am and will remain posted for next 24 hours.
An additional 73 platoons BGB members have been kept reserved for emergency deployment across the country, the officer added.
