DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina categorically said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will have to face trial for terrorism as per international standard.
The premier also asked Khaleda Zia: “Stop burning people by petrol bombs, stop terrorist activities.”
She came up with assertion after giving burn victims Tk 10 lakh each at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Terming BNP-Jamaat ‘terrorists’, Sheikh Hasina said her government will take toughest measures, which deserves the prevailing situation, to stop their acts of sabotage across the country.
The premier said that what Khaleda Zia doing across the country is terrorism, not politics at all.
Sheikh Hasina added: “None gives her ‘license’ to kill common people. Two-year-old baby is wailing at the hospital-bed after suffering burn injuries in bomb attacks. But, she (Khaleda Zia) is leading a luxurious life at Gulshan and giving order to burn people.
The premier went on saying that her government will not tolerate these anymore. Khaleda Zia will be panelized as like as terrorists are punished internationally.
About the BNP’s major ally – Jammat-e-Islami--, Sheikh Hasina said they (Jamaat) have been carrying out terror and violent activities since the War of Independence in 1971 and it is their characters.
Citing that countrymen are resisting BNP-Jamaat, the premier said her government will award those, who will help arrest the bomb attackers.
None of them will be spared for making and supplying bombs and giving order to carry out attacks, the premier warned.
Replying to a question, Hasina said that those, who are talking about holding dialogue, will hopefully take initiatives to stop terror activities.
No dialogue with the killers, she vowed saying that the game of killing people must be stopped first.
The premier urged journalists not to publish and broadcast speeches and activities of Khaleda Zia.
It is better not to publish the news of those who kill people by carrying out sabotages in the name of hartal-blockade, she suggested.
Hasina asked the newspersons: “Are the television channels not able to run without broadcasting the killers’ news?”
Earlier, BNP chief Khaleda Zia called a countrywide blockade for indefinite period after police obstructed her from coming out of the office to refrain her from joining a pre-scheduled rally on January 5, the first anniversary of 10th parliamentary election, as ‘Democracy Killing Day’.
Since then, over 50 people were killed in sabotages, including petrol bomb and cocktail attacks on vehicles. Some 63 patients were released while 53 others are undergoing treatment at burn unit of DMCH.
