Killing in police custody Case filed against 19 in Natore

Natore: The chief judicial magistrate of Natore Mohammad Aktarujjaman passed an order Wednesday to arrest 19 persons including 12 policemen in the allegation of unlawful killing of a juvenile.

The court sources said, on August 27 2009, Rajab Ali, inhabitant of Bamihal village of Singra upazilla in Natore asserted, the Singra thana police took his son (Ansar Ali) away on July 23 2008 and killed later. But after the killing, spread the fake story of ‘crossfire’.

After the hearing the magistrate ordered to investigate the case and to submit the report before the court.

According to the investigation report, on July 23 2008, SI Jasim Uddin of Singra thana filed a murder case. The case said, while a police team of Singra thana was passing a jungle, they faced a gunfight with a band of robbers and Ansar Ali was shot dead in that incident.

But the magistrate observed that r Ansar was killed in police custody and later they thrown away the body in the forest.

The accused OC of Singra thana Abu Bakkar said, Ansar did not die in police custody. The accused will work out the matter through proper legal procedure, he added
