DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Thursday deferred till April 22 the indictment hearing in a defamation case filed against Krishak Sramik Janata League (KSJL) President Kader Siddiqui.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Masud Sheikh passed the order as both the plaintiff and defendant were not present before the court.

February 12 was the date for framing charge in the case for terming former home minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir as Razakar.

On November 11 last year, the court has issued arrest warrant against Bangabir Kader Siddiqui Bir Uttam as he did not appear before the court for long.

National FF Foundation general secretary Ruhul Amin Majumder filed the law suit on behalf of MK Alamgir on February 19 of 2013.

According to case statement, Kader Siddiqui, in a rally of Krishak-Sramik-Janata League at Engineers Institution on February 9 of 2013, said, “It is not possible to bring war criminals under trial keeping ‘Razakar home minister in position’.”

The statement also said MK Alamgir was not only the home minister but also former president of Arthaniti Samity as well as a noted economist of South East Asia and a popular writer.

The case statement further said that the nation is indebted to his family though no member of MK Alamgir’s family participated in the liberation war directly adding that no one of his family is Razakar.
