DHAKA: The customs authorities detained a Pakistani citizen along with one crore Indian currency at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport of the city Thursday evening.

The detainee was identified as Rehan Ali, 28.

Customs Intelligence Department joint commissioner Kazi Muhammad Ziauddin confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said the authorities spotted a paper carton in scanning while he was crossing the green channel of the airport around 7:00pm.

Later, on suspicion the officials detained him and recovered one crore Indian currency after opening the carton.

A case was filed against Rehan in this connection, Ziauddin added.
