Pakistani held with Indian currency in city

DHAKA: The customs authorities detained a Pakistani citizen along with 60 lakh Indian currency at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Friday.

The detainee was identified as Aiyub Ali, 42.

Customs Intelligence Department joint commissioner Kazi Muhammad Ziauddin confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said the authorities searched the luggage of Aiyub, who came for Turkey, on suspicion while he was crossing the green channel of the airport in the morning.

After searching, the officials recovered the huge Indian currency from his possession and detained him.

A case was filed against Aiyub in this connection, Ziauddin added.
