DHAKA: Listening to visiting West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s request to lift the Hilsa ban, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday said the fish would be exported to West Bengal after receiving a fair share of Teesta River water.
The Premier made the observation when Mamata Banejee went to meet her at the Gono Bhaban at noon.
They also talked for a long time about bilateral issues between two Bengals including various facets of Teesta Water Sharing Deal and Land Boundary Agreement (LBA).
Mamata Banerjee also assured the premier of playing a positive role in regard to Teesta Water Sharing Deal.
Prime Minister’s Information Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury briefed the journalists about the meting.
He also quoted Mamata Banerjee as saying the Land Boundary Accord (LBA) would be approved in next Lokshobha session set to start on February 23 and she will play a positive role about Teesta water sharing deal.
Sheikh Hasina thanked her for the assurance, he added.
The two leaders talked personally for some time, he added.
Mamata tanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for inviting her in the Amar Ekushey programs, saying, “I am privileged. This invitation in the Amar Ekushey programs was valuable and important to me”.
