DHAKA: Visiting West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday urged about launching a Business and Economy Television Channel in a joint ownership of Bangladesh and India.
She also said there was no business restriction for airing Bangladeshi television channels in India.
In response to an inquiry, she made the urges while addressing a special session with businessmen, organized by India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI), at city’s Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the afternoon.
She said she would welcome any such initiative from the business communities of the both countries.
The Chief Minister also said they watched two TV channels--ATN Bangla and Boishakhi TV--in West Bengal, adding “others also can come”.
Mamata Banerjee further said she talked to Indian High Commission that said there was no restriction about showing Bangladeshi channels in India.
In response to another question, Mamata said the booking fee of space for stall will be decreased for small and middle-sized entrepreneurs in any fair in Kolkata.
Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pankaj Saran, who was present in the session, said this visit of West Bengal Chief Minister will help unfolding new chapters of the relationship between two countries.
