DHAKA: The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld order of the High Court that granted bail to Ekushey Television (ETV) chairman Abdus Salam in a pornography case.

Earlier, the High Court granted bail to Salam in the case.

Following the appeal of the state to stay the HC order, a four-member bench led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha upheld the bail order of the High Court. 

Attorney General Mahbubey Alam stood for the state while Barrister Rafiqul Haque moved for the defendant.

However, Salam would not be released as he is arrested in another sedition case.

On January 5, Detective Branch of Police detained Abdus Salam from his office and later, he was shown arrested in a pornographic case filed with Cantonment Thana.
