FENI: A druggie son Ariful Islam chopped his mother to death as she refused to give him money at Mahamaya union in Chhagalnaiya upazila of the district on Thursday.

The ill-fated woman was identified as Jahanara Begum, 43, wife of Firoz Ahmed.

Mahamaya Union Parishad (UP) chairman Abul Kashem said that earlier on Monday, Ariful demanded money from his mother but her refusal angered him.

He instantly chopped her indiscriminately, leaving her injured critically, Kashem added.

However, Jahanara was rushed to Feni Sadar hospital and then shifted to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital where she died on Thursday dawn.

Ariful is remained fugitive after the incident.

Chhagalnaiya Thana Officer-in-Charge Mohammed Rashed Khan Chowdhury confirmed the matter to banglanews.

It was a mother’s painful goodbye as her natural love was lost to the artificial affection of drugs.
