DHAKA: Saima Wazed Hossain, daughter of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and also chairman of National Autism and Neuro-Disorder Advisory Committee and Global Autism Public Health, won Distinguished Alumni Awards-2015 from Barry University of the USA.
She was honored by Barry's outstanding alumni for her distinguished professional achievements, continuous work and contributions in fighting autism and neuro-development disorders.
Saima was awarded on February 19 in the event with a networking reception hour followed by an exquisite luncheon and the awards giving ceremony.
The teachers, students along with eminent US citizens were present in the ceremony.
In the program, the PM’s daughter was mentioned as an international standard philosopher and pioneer of children autism.
However, Saima was graduated in Psychology in 1997 and completed Masters in Clinical Psychology in 2002 and had specialized degree in School Psychology in 2004 from Barry University.
She started work to fight autism and neuro-development disorders in 2008. She has been contributing both at home and abroad as working with United Nations (UN) and World Health Organization (WHO).
Later in 2014, Saima, spearheading autism campaign in Bangladesh, was awarded with the ‘WHO Excellence Award’ for her contribution to public health in the region.
