DHAKA: Nagorik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna, who is now serving remand in police custody, was admitted at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital after he fell sick on Tuesday night.
A team Detective Branch of police took Manna to the Cardiology Department of the hospital around 11:00am.
On-duty doctor Tausin was treating Manna there. The physician told banglanews that Manna is suffering from high blood pressure.
On February 24, Manna was arrested a day after the leak of his controversial telephone conversation with Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader Sadeque Hossain Khoka, now in the USA.
On March 5, police filed a sedition case with Gulshan Thana against Manna and Khoka for “trying to instigate revolt by the armed forces”.
The next day, a Dhaka court placed Manna on a 10-day remand in a case, followed by another 10-day fresh remand by another court on March 7.
In the conversation, Manna, a former organizing secretary of ruling Awami League, was heard talking to Khoka about strengthening the anti-government movement, among other issues.
