236 more violence victims get PM assistance

DHAKA: Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina on Thursday distributed financial assistance of Tk 5,42,08000 among 236 more victims of hartal and blockade enforced by BNP led 20-party alliance.

PM handed over the cheques to the sufferers at Prime Minister Office (PMO) of the capital.

Shipping minister Shahjahan Khan, Local Development and cooperation state minister Mashiur Rahman Ranga, Inspector general of police AKM Shahidul Haque, among others, were present at the program. 

The premier also handed over family savings certificates of Tk 3.85-crore to some 33 burn victims.

On the other hand, visually-impaired Selina Begum, mother of a dead burn victim Sohag, will get Tk 5,000 per month for life from the Prime Minister fund alongside a family savings certificate of Tk 5-lakh.

However, Sheikh Hasina also handed over the cheques a total of Tk 1.57 crore to 199 owners of 270 vehicles which were damaged during hartal and blockade.

In several phases, a total of Tk 14.63 crore has been provided from government fund to the victims of hartal and blockade violence.
