DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday expressed deep shock at the loss of lives in an under construction building collapse at Sena Kalyan Sangstha’s Elephant Brand Cement factory in Mongla Upazila of Bagerhat.

In a condolence message, the premier prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved families.

She also asked the authorities concerned to provide better treatment to the injured and rescue those are trapped in the rubbles immediately.

Bodies of seven people have recovered so far and 100 more were feared trapped after the building suddenly collapsed on Thursday noon while workers were pouring concrete into the mold of ceiling slabs there.

However, media persons are not being allowed near the collapsed building.
