BANDARBAN: At least 15 dwelling houses were burnt to ashes when a devastating fire broke out in Manglainggra area under Ruma upazila of the district town Thursday evening.

Locals told banglanews that the fire originated from a fireplace of a house and soon engulfed the adjacent houses.

As the incident spot is located far remote hill area, no unit of Fire Service and Civil Defense (FSCD) could arrive there.

Locals doused the flame after three hours of hectic efforts. In the meantime, the fire gutted 15 houses there.

Ruma Thana Officer-In-Charge Shariful Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.

However, the loss from the fire might go up to Tk50 lakhs, claimed the victims.
