One killed, 5 houses gutted in Munshiganj fire

MUNSHINGANJ: A 105-year-old women was burnt alive and five houses were gutted as a fire broke out at several houses of Nitira village under Tongibari Upazila of the district on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Razia begum, mother of Rahim Master of Nitira village. 

Witnesses said originated at the house of Rahim Master around 12:30pm, the fire soon engulfed four nearby houses, leaving Razia, who was lying-down inside her house, burnt to death.

Locals had brought the fire under control after two hours hectic efforts before fire fighting unit reached the spot due to the narrowness of the road.

In the meantime, most of the valuables of five families burnt to ashes and at least 12 people sustained injuries while trying to douse the blaze. 

Tongibari Thana assistant Sub-inspector Parimal told banglanews that the charred body of a woman was recovered. A team of police rushed to spot.
