Madrassa student slaughtered

JHENAIDAH: A group of miscreants slaughtered a minor madrassa student after abduction in Kotchandpur upazila of Jhenaidah district.

Body of victim Miraj Uddin (12) was found in a maize field in Tomradanga village of the upazila Monday morning.

Earlier, Miraj, son of Mohor Ali of the village and a student of class three at Darul Umul Madrassa, was abducted while returning home from the madrassa on Saturday night (March 14).

Kotchandpur Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Saidul Islam Shahin told banglanews that the abductors demanded Tk one lakh as ransom.

The victim’s father filed a case on Sunday in this regard, the OC added.

Later on Monday morning, farmers found Miraj’s body lying in the field and informed police.

Recovering the body, police sent it to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

According to the police, the abductors may kill the boy as they did not get any ransom.
