ASHULIA, DHAKA: More than 50 readymade garments’ (RMG) workers fell sick after taking their tiffin provided by the authorities of Turag garment’s factory in Zirani Bazar area of Ashulia of the district on Wednesday night.

The sick RMG labourers were admitted to local hospitals and clinics.

Workers told banglanews that they felt nauseating and headache after having bread and banana provided by the authorities in the night.

The authorities, then, declared closure of the factory as the number of sick workers rose.

One of the workers Shefali Akhter told banglanews that many other workers fell sick after drinking water at the factory on Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, the factory authority declared shut down when the number of sick workers rose over 50 this morning.

Additional police force was deployed in the factory area to thwart any untoward situation.
