DHAKA: One of the nine victims of Magura petrol bomb attack succumbed to burn injury on way to Dhaka early Sunday and eight others fighting for life at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
The deceased was identified at Rawshan Ali Biswash, 35 while details identity of the injured could not be known.
Miscreants carried out the fire bomb attack on a laborer-laden truck in Maghidhal area under Sadar upazila of Magura on the eve of a 72-hour fresh hartal of BNP-led 20-party alliance.
Rawshan’s cousin Amirul Islam told banglanews that the truck was returning to Sadar Upazila after unloading sand at Vataikhali village under Shalikha upazila of the district.
On arrival at Maghidhal area, miscreants threw petrol bomb, leading the truck on fire around 7:45pm that left nine people burnt, Amirul added.
The injured were rushed to the district Sadar Hospital. Later they were shifted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) as condition deteriorated. One of them died on way to the DMCH.
DMCH police outpost assistant Sub-Inspector (SI) Sentu Das confirmed the death to banglanews.
DMCH resident surgeon Sultana Razia told journalists the injured are given treatment at the burn unit of the hospital.
Of them, five are in critical condition and all possess death risk, added the surgeon.
