EWG urges fair city polls

DHAKA: Election Working Group (EWG) urged for free and fair elections of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and Chittagong City Corporation (CCC).

The speakers made the urge at a press conference held at National Press Club in city on Monday.

They said after the 10th national election, people have lost their faith on Election Commission (EC).

The speakers hoped that the EC will regain people’s faith by conducting free and fair elections in three city corporations.

Professor Dr Taleya Rehman said the country has been facing crucial situation. So, people should come forward to cast their votes without any interruption.

EWG director Dr M Abdul Alim expected that everybody will follow the electoral code of conduct to avoid any unwanted situation.

The organization’s standing committee members Dr Harun-or-Rashid, Binoy Krisna Mallik, AHM Noman, among others, were present at the conference.
