COXSBAZAR: Coastguard and police personnel detained 45 people along with seven traffickers from the Bay of Bengal on Monday foiling their attempt to go to Malaysia through the sea illegally.

Of the detainees—40 held from near Chheradiya Island and 12 from Sonadiya Island along with an engine-driven boat.

Coastguard Saint Martin’s station In-Charge Keti Mong Marma confirmed the matter to banglanews adding they would be handed over to Teknaf Thana.
