DHAKA: A man was killed and six others injured when a newspaper-laden pickup van overturned near Nathjangi Shrine in Shahjahanpur area of the city early Friday.

The deceased was identified as Mashiur, 35, while the injured are Sujan, 38, Shahadat, 28, Bahadur, Khayer, Azadm and pickup driver Russell. They all work at the press section of Bengali language newspaper Daily Manobkantha.
 
Injured Sujan told banglanews that the pickup, carrying newspapers, was heading towards the city’s Ashkona area. The vehicle turned turtle after it hit on the road inland around 3:30am as the driver lost control over steering.

The injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where one succumbed to his injuries around 4:00am.

DMC police outpost assistant Sub-Inspector Sentu Chandra Das confirmed the matter to banglanews.
