DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Friday said Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, has changed the fate of Bangalees who were exploited and deprived for long time.

The premier, also president of Awami League, came up with the observation while addressing a discussion at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh in the city in the afternoon marking the Independence Day.

Bangabandhu had inspired the nation step by step in achieving the ultimate liberation. Under his leadership, the country has attained independence, she said, adding that the fate of Bangalees has changed. Now Bangalees exist in every place. The nation now stood head high on the world stage.

Recalling the sacrifice of Bangabandhu in establishing an independent Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina said, “Pakistan Government filed false cases against him aiming to kill him by hanging. But he did not retreat a feet from his ideology. Firm on vision was a great quality of him.”

She said, “The Bangalees, who were deprived, exploited and oppressed for long, hold their heads high on the world stage today. They are now in every place. Bangabandhu’s dream comes true.”
