BAGERHAT: Two siblings were burnt alive as a fire broke out at their house in Ghola village of Chitalmari Upazila of the district on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Habil Sheikh, 7, and Chandni, 4, kids of Khokon Sheikh and Afroza Begum of the village.

Officer-in-charge (OC) Chitalmari Thana Dilip Kumar Sarkar told banglanews that Habil and Chadni were burnt to death in a fire that originated from the kitchen stove and soon engulfed the entire house in the afternoon.

The mother had locked the door keeping her kids asleep and gone to neighboring house, the OC added.

Being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered their charred bodies from the spot.
