NARAYANGANJ: The district administration formed a three-member probe committee over the death of 10 pilgrims in a stampede in Langalbandh under Bandar Upazila in Narayanganj.

The committee was asked to submit the report within five days.

Narayanganj deputy commissioner Anisur Rahman Miah confirmed the matter to banglanews Friday evening.

The three members committed will be led by deputy director of Local Government Ministry Ishrat Hossain. The other members are Narayanganj addition DC Mahmudur Rahman Habib and additional district magistrate (ADM) Mizanur Rahman.

Earlier in the morning, at least 10 devotees, including seven women, were stampede to death and 30 others sustained injuries during the ‘Astami Snan’, a major religious festival of the Hindu community.
