DHAKA: The Asia Foundation Bangladesh distributed four thousand books at free of cost to 31 educational institutions on the occasions of International Women’s Day and the country’s Independence Day as well.
The distribution program was arranged at a city restaurant on Saturday.
According to the organizers, they distributed books in English, business, management and computer science, worth of Tk 10 lakh.
The distribution aims to slender the gender discrimination spreading knowledge among the school and college students.
Pubali Bank general manager Mohammad Ali was present as chief guest at the distribution program, attended by and Asia Foundation Bangladesh country representative Hasan Majumdar and deputy country representative Sarah Tailor.
Representatives of several schools and colleges from different parts of the country received the books.
Thanking the organizers, Mohammad Ali urged them to continue the distribution of books and assured continuous support of Pubali Bank in this regard.
Hasan Majumdar said that from 50 thousand to 60 thousand books are distributed every year from the organization.
Book for Asia program coordinator Shukla De conducted the ceremony, followed by a cultural show.
