DHAKA: A group of miscreants, introducing themselves as police members of Detective Branch (DB), snatched Tk 3-lakh from a youth in city’s Hatirjheel area on Saturday leaving the victim injured.
The victim, identified as Monir Hossain (27), a salesman of Meghna Mosaic of city’s Kuril area, got admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
Monir told banglanews that he was going to Shanghai Ceramic in Karwanbazar by a rickshaw after withdrawing Tk 3-lakh from a BRAC Bank branch in Gulshan-1.
The miscreants picked him up in a microbus from a place in between BFDC rail crossing to Sonargaon hotel.
They hand-cupped and beat Monir. Snatching the money, they left him near Sapra Masjid in Hatirjheel.
On information, Meghna Mosaic owner Rusel rescued and admitted Monir at DMCH.
Russell told banglanews that Monir was going to Kaarwanbazar to purchase products.
DMCH police camp in-charge assistant sub-inspector (SI) Sentu Chandra Das confirmed the matter to banglanews.
