FROM GULSHAN: After a 92-day stay at political office, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia retuned to her Gulshan residence on Sunday noon.

Khaleda Zia, who had been staying her Gulshan political office Since January 3, went back to her residence after appearing before the court and getting bail in Zia Orphanage and Zia Charitable Trust cases in the morning.

Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia came out of her political office in city’s Gulshan area at around 10:00am and reached court at 10:37am.

Judge Abu Ahmed Jomadar of the Special Judge's Court-3 passed the bail order after hearing on her bail petitions. Sanaullah Miah, a counsel for Khaleda, had submitted two separate bail petitions before she had arrived at court.

Later, Khaleda Zia left the court premises at 11:50am for her Gulshan residence.

The security measures were boosted up in Gulshan and adjacent areas of the court ahead of her appearance in the makeshift court in city’s Alia Madrasa ground and also her return to Gulshan residence.

On February 25, an arrest warrant was issued against Khaleda Zia after she skipped appearing before court during several hearings.

The former prime minister had been staying at her political office located on Road 86 in Gulshan Avenue since January 3 when police stopped her leaving the office.

The BNP-led alliance has since been enforcing an indefinite transport blockade across the country and shutdowns, protesting police bar from joining a program marking January 5 as ‘Democracy Killing Day’.
