Court quizzes Bhagne Shahid in Azad murder case

DHAKA: The CMM Court of Dhaka Wednesday recorded confessional statement of Anwar Alam alias Bhagne Shahid, the stand-in chief of the banned militant outfit JMB, in the case of attempt to murder Dr Humayun Azad.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate AKM Emdadul Haque recorded the statement under section-164 of the criminal law.
 
General Recording Officer (GRO) of the CMM Court Ratan Sheikh said CID police inspector and investigating officer of the case Mostafizur Rahman pleaded to the court for recording statement of Bhagne Shahid as he wanted to make confessional statement during remand period.

On February 27, 2004, some miscreants attacked professor Humayun Azad near TSC while he was returning home from Ekushey Book Fair, living him seriously injured. He died on August 11, 2007 during research work in Germany.
