DHAKA: Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBN) members seized goods, including essence, topi, dresses and gold-bars, worth of Tk 1-crore at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday noon.

Moreover, law enforcers detained Haji Mosharraf Travels and Tours proprietor Mosharraf Hossain in this connection.

Airport Armed Police Battalion assistant police super (ASP) Abdullah Al Mamun said that the detainee, passenger of an Air Arabia flight, was trying to pass the airport’s green channel with the goods avoiding taxes.

After search, police seized goods worth of around Tk 1-crore.

Besides, police seized a gold-bar, weighing 116-gram, after searching the detainee’s body.

APBN media wing assistant police super (ASP) Tanzina Akhtar said Mosharraf had been bringing goods without taxes from mid-eastern countries for a long time.

Process of filing a case in this regard is underway, he added.
