Driver burnt in firebombing of truck

DHAKA: A truck driver has been burnt as hartal supporters hurled a petrol bomb at the vehicle in Daudkandi of Comilla early Monday.
 
The victim- M Riaz, 40- was admitted to burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital with 14 percent burns. He hails from Boupara village under Kotwali Thana of Rangpur.

DMCH police outpost assistant sub-inspector Sentu Chandra Das confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Regarding the incident, truck helper Munna told banglanews: They were going to Chittagong from Rangpur by a truck loaded with maize. When we were taking rest inside the parked truck at Gouripur, hartal supporters hurled petrol bomb on us around 3:30am, leaving Riaz burnt. 

The dawn-to-dusk hartal, enforced by Jamaat-e-Islami protesting its leader Kamaruzzman’s execution, is underway across the country on Monday without any reported incidents of subversive activities anywhere.
