BENAPOLE: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained 56 Bangladeshi nationals who were returning from India in Sadipur area of the frontier early Monday.

Among the detainees, 28 are men, 16 are women, nine children and three belong to the third gender, hailing from Jessore, Khulna, Faridpur, Kushtia, Narail, Pirojpur, Satkhira and Dhaka.

BGB said the detainees were handed over to Benapole Port Thana.

BGB Jessore 26 battalion lieutenant commander Jahangir Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
